Just days after I was wounded, I promised myself I would run a marathon. This was a tall order for a man with a fractured hip, 20% of his colon removed, and a paralyzed left leg. I underwent 6 surgeries that have left me with over 40 inches of scars and performed 1000’s of hours of physical therapy to relearn simple tasks like walking. Throughout my recovery there were many ups and downs; however, no matter how difficult the process became, I never lost sight of my goal of running a marathon. 3,130 days after being shot in Afghanistan, I will fulfill the promise I made to myself and will be running the Boston Marathon for the TB12 Foundation (Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady's Foundation). This Foundation helps veterans along with at-risk and under-privileged athletes receive free physical therapy and training from the world renowned TB12 team. The TB12 Foundation has been instrumental in improving my quality of life and helping me achieve my goals - including being able to run again. Please consider supporting me in this journey by donating to the TB12 Foundation. Any amount is appreciated. See you at the finish line!
