Hello Everybody, My name is Taryn and I've been so blessed to be accepted as a volunteer for the Global Autism Project SkillCorps Nigeria trip of 2019! This is my fundraising page for my trip to Nigeria, here you will find information about donations, a little bit about me, and what Global Autism Project is all about!
Thank you all for taking the time out to visit this page and supporting me in my goal of reaching $5000! With your help reaching 5k, I will be able to volunteer in Abuja, Nigeria where I will work with and support the staff in the local community in providing services to children with exceptionalities.
Where does your donations go?
The link will give you visuals and informaion on the impact of your donation! Within the link you will find that your funds will go straight to the organization (Global Autism Project), who will send me to Nigeria for two weeks so I can work with local professionals who service kids diagnosed with autism. I will be working as a volunteer daily, with the exception of weekends, during the duration of my trip. Activities like excursions as well as my flight to and from Nigeria will be at my own expense.
Who am I?
To start, I began working with kids diagnosed with Autism (ASD) when I was in community college, a little after graduating high school. Then I went onto be a full time student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa where I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Psychology. After graduating, I became a skills trainer working in local schools and in the community with kids with ASD and I've been doing it ever since! Now, I am a Registered Behavior Technician and part time graduate student working towards my Masters in Special Education. With that being said, I love my job. Not only, do I get to make an impact on someones learning experience everyday but I get to learn from these kids on how to communicate and learn in different and meaningful ways. All the titles I may have in life, I will always be an advocate for those in the ASD community and to be given the honor to work with them everyday is very rewarding for me.
So Joining the Global Autism Project SkillCorps. is really a dream come true. I honestly never thought I would have this opportunity to experience working with kids with ASD around the world. Please join me with your support and donations in giving my skills and efforts to an organization that makes a global impact.
