We were told the at 13 weeks our baby girl had Trisomy 21/ Downs Syndrome. The Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota provided us with many resources to help our family navigate this diagnosis. Tallulah arrived via emergency c section 4/27/19 at 33 weeks gestation. The placenta stopped working and her growth was suffering. She has been our sweet yet feisty girl since day one. She was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect at a week old. She had surgery to correct that which was successful. She did require a second surgery to correct a complication from the first surgery. She is currently hospitalized in the NICU working on feeding and growing. We cant wait until we can bring her home.
The Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota is a statewide nonprofit organization with the mission to empower individuals and their families, to create community, and to celebrate the abilities of people with Down syndrome. Our Annual STEP UP FOR DOWN SYNDROME walk is our largest awareness event and fundraiser. Over 5,000 people join us in person at Como Park every September to raise awareness, celebrate abilities, and create community.
The money raised through the personal campaigns of our AWESOME TEAM CAPTAINS & FAMILIES leading up to this event provide the funding to deliver our mission and programming throughout the year!
