HELP US STOP THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 IN AFRICA
The global community is racing to slow down and eventually halt the spread of COVID-19, a pandemic that has claimed thousands of lives and sickened tens of thousands of others. In Africa, the virus has spread to dozens of countries within weeks. Governments and health authorities across the continent are striving to limit widespread infections.
Importantly, basic preventative measures by individuals and communities remain the most powerful tool to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Giselle Foundation in partnership with We Stand Tall will take responsibility to move forward with a campaign project called "Take Care of Yourself & Others" with the purpose to reach out to 3 major slums in Kenya: Obunga, Manyatta, Nyalenda, highly populated slums, totalling 306,000 people.
We need to act quickly, gather the funds and supply these communities with hand soap, hand sanitizers, alcohol and masks as well as educating each family with the basic educational information on how to keep themselves and others well, avoid the spread and what to do in the event that someone becomes sick.
Obunga slums alone is home to approximately 31,000 people and the settlement is highly dense. If the virus lands in Obunga it will be catastrophic. This is a place where hygiene is very poor, food is a problem, housing is not appropriate and sanitation is an eyesoar. The entire slums is only served by one ablution block (toilets) and so open defecation is the norm of the day especially with the children.
Therefore, our first target is to supply the masks and gloves and washing facilities to the people in Obunga. $5 will help us cover one person with their basic needs to stay safe and well.
Your contributions are greatly appreciated!
Anyone who makes a donation to this truly humanitarian project will receive an acknowledgement letter from both Giselle Foundation & We Stand Tall.
