Courtesy Manulife/John Hancock, I'm getting a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity of fulfilling a personal ambition and I'm getting to do so while supporting a humanitarian cause - supporting a society ravaged by years of violence, drought and disease.
Boston Marathon is world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's best-known road racing events. It is one of six World Marathon Majors and its 42.2KM long course runs from Hopkinton in southern Middlesex county to Copley Square in Boston.
By running in the 123rd Boston Marathon in April, 2019, I'll be fulfilling a lifelong ambition of competing at a world stage. While memory of this run will stay with me for my lifetime, this run has the potential of benefiting thousands of lives fighting for their mere existence, devestated by years of violence and disease. Supporting these people in need trumps any personal ambition of mine.
Yemen's humanitarian crisis ranks amongst the worst in the world. Since April 2017, more than a million suspected cholera cases have been reported in Yemen. An international blockade and reliance on imported medical supplies have made it difficult to contain and treat the outbreak.
As fighting and airstrikes continue across the country, many are now at huge risk and humanitarian aid will become even more crucial.
In partnership with Islamic Relief USA, money raised through your donations will supply hospitals and health facilities with medicines and emergency medical supplies so they can treat the sick and wounded.
