The World Pediatric Project:
Headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, the WPP is a non-profit humanitarian organization with a sub-office in Missouri, St. Louis and an Eastern Caribbean Headquarters situated in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The WPP works with the various governments of the region, international organizations (such as Pan American World Health Organization), partner hospitals and physicians (local in Caribbean and Central American Countries and in the USA).
The mission of the WPP is to heal critically ill children and build health care capacity throughout the world. The WPP works closely with children in developing countries who lack access to basic health care. To this end, the organization has been assisting children (from birth to 21 years of age) in countries of the Caribbean Region and Central America by providing access to quality, advanced specialty and surgical care in order that they live a full and productive life.
Health care has been provided in areas such as: General surgery, reconstructive/ plastic surgery, ophthalmology, physical therapy, speech therapy, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, diagnostic, cardiology, neurology, orthopedic surgery. The WPP mobilizes diagnostic and surgery teams to heal children who lack access to pediatric specialist care and provide complex surgical care to children through its network of partner hospitals in the United States and internationally. They also train local doctors, nurses, and health workers in our partner countries to build local healthcare capacity.
