Twice a year, the Tabor Academy student body participates in a week long program about healthy relationships. The focus of the programming helps the students highlight signs and symptoms of healthy and unhealthy relationships in their personal, romantic and friend type connections. The programming works diligently to assist the students in communication tips and resources to utilize when experiencing an abusive relationship.
The One Love Foundation was founded in 2010 after the unfortunate murder of UVA’s lacrosse player, Yeardly Love, by her boyfriend who played on the men’s UVA lacrosse team. The One Love Foundation works with high schools and colleges across the nation to assist in educating and informing students on the warning signs of abuse in relationships. Through workshops and conversations, the foundation is working to create a safer and healthier environment for students and individuals in their perspective communities.
On April 24, 2019, the Tabor Academy girls and boys varsity lacrosse teams will be participating in the first annual One Love Game. Together the two teams are spear heading Tabor’s Spring Healthy Relationship Week and our first ever One Love Fundraiser. Starting on April 8th and ending on April 24th, the program is hoping to have raised $2,000 to assist One Love with funding workshops and educational seminars for high schools and colleges across the nation.
As strong supporters of the One Love mission and healthy relationships, the lacrosse teams at Tabor Academy are hosting this fundraiser to raise awareness around the issue of unhealthy relationships and assist in generating change on school campuses. Please consider making a positive difference in relationships across the nation.
