On 9/11/2001, My Uncle Gary Herold was working on the 98th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center. Gary and another manager, Eric Eisenberg assisted in the evacuation process. Gary and Eric assisted many coworkers to the stairs and completed clearing their area. Gary and Eric were not able make their way down to leave before the second plane hit the South Tower. I was never able to meet Gary. I was born less than two years after 9/11. I'm so very proud that Gary helped people in their time of need. I think about Gary often and I know that someday I will meet him and give him the biggest hug! My fundraiser is to do what Gary did. To do what Stephen Siller did. To do what our Military and First Responders do everyday. I want to help people and give back to those that have given me and this country so much. Knowing that the money I raise will help to build smart homes for injured Veterans, assist fallen First Responders and our fallen Military Heroes makes me want to do as much as I can to help those who deserve all we can do to make their lives more comfortable. Thank you for considering my fundraiser, Gia Herold. NEVER FORGET
The Tunnel to Towers: Never Forget Virtual Challenge is a challenge to have people do one thing to honor and remember the sacrifice of 9-11. It is our hope that individuals, families, first responders, military and anyone who would have supported one of our Run and Climb events, including the NYC 5K Run and Walk, would take time to share how they will “Never Forget.”
Share on social media and help us to get as many people to be involved as possible. If you have attended any of our events in the past, wear your Tunnel to Towers shirt or hat, post the picture, and tag your friends. Use our hashtag #T2TNeverForget.
