The Southwest Washington Red Cross Youth Council is a group of 21 dedicated teens who represent American Red Cross clubs throughout six local high schools; Camas, Columbia River, Mountain View, Skyview, Union, and Vancouver School of Arts and Academics (VSAA). Each year, members from these schools' clubs fundraise through an event coordinated by the council known as Trick-or-Treat for Disaster Relief. In a typical year, we would get to go around to our communities and make connections with our neighbors while raising money to help support disaster relief efforts and enjoying the festivities of Halloween night.
This year, in light of COVID-19, we are doing things a little differently for the health and safety of our communities. In collaboration with the American Red Cross, we have worked to create a GoFundMe page, allowing everyone to continue to support our efforts in a virtual setting. 90 cents of every dollar goes directly to disaster relief services and response efforts, such as supporting the families impacted by the recent Western Wildfires! No donation is required, but we are providing an easy opportunity to donate if desired.
We miss getting to see the people in our communities and everyone's smiling faces, but we hope that we can continue to make an impact this year as much as ever. Thank you for your generous support of our mission, and we hope to see you soon!
