Swim From The Heart was established to raise awareness and critical research funds to predict and prevent sudden cardiac death (SCD) in children and adults—a major cause of natural death worldwide. Inspired by open-water swimmers in Northern California, participants are asked to give of their strength, passion, and resources to swim in one of three heats (ranging from 1 km to 4.5 km) in the Haifa Bay—all in support of SCD research at Rambam.
Putting it simply—research saves lives. Around 40-50% of all cardiovascular deaths worldwide are due to SCD. Sudden cardiac death patients exhibit no warning symptoms until the fatal incident, making prevention difficult. Rambam’s cardiologists have seen too many young lives end early due to SCD. Hence, they have committed their expertise to disciplinary and collaborative SCD research. Proceeds from Swim From The Heart will support their SCD research; to date $200,000 has been raised to battle SCD. Please join me!
