The Swim Free 2019 campaign will run until December 31st, 2019.
This money goes to help Cove Monitors of the Ric O'Barry Dolphin Project (RODP) get to Taiji, Japan and record the process of how dolphin end up in captivity. I have become a cove monitor and last year I was in Taiji and I plan to return in the next season.
Everyday from September 1st to February 28th, hunters head out to the open ocean with banger boats to try and drive a pod of dolphins into The Cove. Once there, the dolphins are either selected for captivity or slaughtered for their meat. This process is a supply in demand.
The supply is from people supporting dolphin captivity by going to dolphin shows, aquariums, dolphinariums or to swim with dolphins. No matter how clean the tank is, it is not clean enough for the gruesome reality of how they got there or what their life is like once they are there.
I will be organising fundraisers throughout the year but you can donate here at anytime.
Please remember the funds are in USD, minimum is $10.
