Due to the current COVID 19 pandemic, there will be no in-person fundraiser this year. We desperately need your help to continue our mission and ensure that the current students can complete their education. Our students, as well as ourselves, deeply appreciate your generosity over the past 8 years. We only have 2 more years to go to complete our organization's mission!
The mission of Sustainable Therapy Haiti is to educate and financially support Haitian physical and occupational therapy students, increasing the number of Haitian rehabilitation professionals in the country.
Rehabilitation services in Haiti are sorely lacking with few rehabilitation professionals and economic limitations in sustaining their services. Our organization was established in 2010 by a group of physical therapists who had volunteered for several years in Haiti and saw the need for expanded rehabilitation services by and for the Haitian people. We strongly embrace the concept that a Haitian workforce is essential for a sense of dignity and independence for the Haitian people. Freedom from dependence on outside assistance is vital. We are encouraged that a professional physical therapist organization has developed and been accepted into the World Confederation for Physical Therapy.
Presently one student has graduated from a physical therapy program in the Dominican Republic and is working in the Artibonite Valley in Haiti. Currently, there are 3 students attending school, two in physical therapy and one in occupational therapy, all in the Dominican Republic. These are dedicated young people, leaving home and family to attend school in Spanish, rather than their native French or Kreyol. Their goals are to better themselves, assist their families and communities back in Haiti.
Sustainable Therapy is a 501c3 organization. 100% of donations go to student assistance.
