As most of you know, every year around my September birthday, our family and available friends have celebrated in my hometown (Fairfield, CT) at the CancerCare Walk/Run for Hope and then had brunch at a local diner.
Last year we changed it up, and did an UES walk/run with a brunch at Chez Zachoff. Every year, I am the #1 fundraiser for the event (thanks to you! all my friends and family!!). 100% of funds raised goes straight to CancerCare and you get a tax deduction! CancerCare is the only national non-profit which provides FREE psycho-social and practical support to anyone with a cancer diagnosis (www.cancercare.org).
This year, for obvious reasons, we need to change it up yet again. As a replacement for walks and runs, CancerCare has created a campaign, “Do Something for CancerCare.” This is a DIY fundraiser which gives people the opportunity to create their own activity and raise funds on their own: how they want, when they want, for as long as they want. Here is a link to the video they created to promote the campaign. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erCqGdzglds
I have decided to walk the 5K route we did last year (down and back up the East River Promenade). While I wish we could all do this together, I’m asking that you metaphorically join me in this endeavor on a day and time that’s convenient for you. (For those of you in Manhattan, you know I am ALWAYS up for a real time walk buddy!) Then on Thursday, September 10th (my birthday), I would love for us to join together with an 11:30 am Eastern time Zoom gathering and have brunch. (Unfortunately, this year, you are not only required to provide your own bagel and toppings, but toast it yourself!) Zoom info to follow closer to September 10th!
Whether or not you can walk/run and Zoom dine, I ask for your support of this cause that’s near and dear to me and my family. Last year we raised $8,936 and I hope this year we can meet or beat that amount. I’d love to shine as the top fundraiser once again.
For your convenience – please see the link to my fundraising page located within the CancerCare DO SOMETHING website. You are also welcome to send a check made out to CancerCare to: Erica Lebensberg, CancerCare, 275 Seventh Avenue, 22nd Floor, NY, NY 10001.
Thank you for your consideration.
