On February 1st HTC lost one of our founding members in a backcountry avalanche. Adam Palmer was the leader of HTC for years and lovingly known as El Presidente´.
While 3 amazing members of our community lost their lives in the avalanche, 4 other members of the group survived. They are now home and wrestling with the impacts of having lost 3 close friends while being out doing something they all loved. We would like to help these men with whatever they need to move through this tragedy.
HTC has set up this fund to first and foremost help the 4 surviving members of this group with the trauma of this horrible accident. We will provide funding for mental health support and any other immediate needs related to this tragedy for each of them and their families.
Beyond this immediate need, this Fund will be used to provide support for
• Any family or friends directly impacted by the loss of a loved one in such an event
• Survivors and their families in any way they need including mental health support and unexpected expenses associated with the accident
• Organizations such as search and rescue, CAIC and other organizations that help during times of crisis
• Backcountry education and safety classes that help people enjoy the outdoors as safely as possible.
