For some people, time is money. For others, time is a luxury. For the acutely ill or injured, time is life.
Critically sick patients need ICU-level emergency medical care as soon as possible. They need health care providers with the most advanced resuscitation skills and resources at their bedside within minutes. They need rapid transport to the most appropriate hospital for a life-saving surgery or procedure, and they are too sick for conventional ground EMS crews to handle. This is where we come in. Not all patients need our services. But for those who are in critical condition, a call to Survival Flight means life.
Survival Flight has served as the critical care transport program for Michigan Medicine since 1983, and over the past 35 years, we have safely transported over 57,000 patients of all ages. Our team of experienced critical care flight nurses, who are dually licensed as paramedics, are nationally known for their skills and expertise. Using our elite fleet of mobile ICUs, including three helicopters, a fixed wing, and a ground ambulance, these acclaimed nurses are available 24 hours-a-day to care for and transport patients from accident scenes and hospitals throughout North America to the life-saving care they so desperately need.
At Michigan Medicine, the Survival Flight Critical Care Air Transport program is setting the bar high for prehospital and Interfacility transport medicine. However, we require vigorous resources to maintain momentum. Philanthropic investments will provide needed funds to push the boundaries of excellence and enable our providers to continue to be the national leaders and best in critical care air transport.
