After an entire year of performing zero physical activity, I decided to come out of 'exercise retirement' towards the end of 2017. Not my best decision. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
On September 29, I will be taking part, i.e. making up the numbers, in Ironman Maryland 2018. This will be my 2nd full distance event and it hasn't been an easy journey. Mentally, it has seemed more difficult than prior as I do not have the same motivations when compared to never having done one before. Also, there was the accident mid-way through my program which put a question mark on me being at the start line. That wasn't pretty...
To shake things up this time around though, I'm raising funds for Children's Scholarship Fund (CSF) and need your help!
I didn't choose how I was born but am lucky enough to have parents who got me the education I needed which in turn afforded me the opportunities I have today.
According to scholars at Brooking’s Institution, children born into the top fifth of the income distribution have about twice as much of a chance of becoming middle class or better in their adult years as those born into the bottom fifth (Isaacs, Sawhill, & Haskins, 2008).
CSF aims to expand educational opportunity by providing scholarship to families in need so their children can attend the K-8 schools that best meet their needs, regardless of their ability to pay or where they live. CSF also supports scholarship programs and reform efforts that help all children get the education they deserve.

For those who are still on the fence, please know that, in addition to making a difference to the kids out there, you can rest assured/take pleasure in the fact that I have been suffering through early mornings and sore body parts throughout this last year! Unlike what you see on insta(gram) which offer a highly curated superset of unrealistic desires, here are a couple of photos which show the realities of training… And no, there aren’t photos of me with abs for days, nor one taking a sip of vegan, gluten-free, 100% natural, organic protein shake after a hard session.
Thank you for the support!
