First and foremost, we hope that you are staying safe and healthy in light of the COVID-19 situation. Here at Urban Initiatives, our number one priority is the health and safety of our students, stakeholders and staff and we are doing everything we can to ensure a smooth transition during these times of uncertainty.
We are adjusting our programming models to encapsulate social-emotional learning, academic achievement and healthy living practices in order to impact our students virtually and maintain the staff necessary to conduct this curriculum. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support these efforts.
As you know due to COVID-19, Chicago Public Schools effectively closed on Tuesday, March 17, putting a pause on Urban Initiatives typical programming format. Despite these closures, we are committed to providing high quality programming, no matter the format! We are working diligently to consider the best ways to partner with our communities during this time.
With that being said, there are ways that we can help our students right now. Urban Initiatives believes in connecting communities. This is more important now than ever. In order to best support our students, we are working on moving our curriculum to virtual engagements with students. To make that happen, we need your help.
We understand that with COVID-19 and its impact on the economy, these are difficult times for all. During these challenging times, we are greatly humbled to have to ask you to support and truly appreciate your consideration and dedication to our organization. Your generosity does not go unnoticed and you know that we would not be asking if we didn’t have the quality and impact of our programming at the top of our minds. Our students come first and we will continue to empower the future leaders of Chicago.
Urban Initiatives is a Chicago-based nonprofit. Our mission is to use the power of sport and play to empower Chicago’s youth to achieve academic success, develop social-emotional skills, and build social capital. We serve 50+ schools across the Chicago Public Schools District. You can see a full list of schools we serve on our website. We prioritize serving schools that are under-resourced and need our programs the most.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
