InspireDR is kicking off their Aquatics Program—Swim and Water Safety Training. Please join me in supporting InspireDR!
According to the World Health Organization, drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths. Children, males, and individuals with increased access to water are most at risk.
Sadly, the Cabarete, Dominican Republic has very high drowning rate. Few people in the region know how to swim; and to make matters worse there are no public or private swimming pool facilities available for regular use in our area.
InspireDR’s Aquatics Program Goal: (Powered by Coach Iggy of TKA) Our goal at InspireDR is to minimize drowning deaths in the waters of the local beaches in Cabarete. The first step in achieving this goal is simple…create opportunities and experiences for the boys of InspireDR and other youth to LEARN TO SWIM and MANAGE DANGEROUS AQUATIC SITUATIONS! We will accomplish our goal by building a swimming pool in Cabarete and running a community-focused aquatics training and safetly program.
Our Aquatics Program will positively impact hundreds of youth each year. As we did in 2018, we'll train youth from other organizations and coordinate an open enrollment with parents of youth that are not affiliated with an organization.
We are taking action to develop critical skills that will save lives!
More About Our Amazing Program
In 2015, we opened a boys club because there were few options for boys to learn life skills and values and create job opportunities for themselves.
To accomplish our mission we focus life skills and values development that build confidence and self-esteem such as critical thinking, ESL, community service, computers, entrepreneurship, leadership, making healthy choices, respect for others (especially girls), sports, swimming, teamwork, wood-work...and more!
Thank you in advance for supporting our mission!
