The Spring shelters battered women and children from their abusers, saving lives every day.
We DESPERATELY need $1,000,000 to continue. In the last week, we have raised $225,000, putting us behind schedule.
We are in the midst of a HEART WRENCHING crisis, threatening THOUSANDS of woman and children's ONLY source of HOPE.
- $120,000 of monthly state funds are slowing down
- $40,000 of additional monthly state funds locked
UNPRECEDENTED CRISIS requires UNPRECEDENTED GENEROSITY.
One of our largest fundraising events is pushed back to September due to CV-19, stripping us of another $100,000 that we DESPERATELY NEED now more than ever.
As CV-19 SPREADS, more and more VICTIMS will be trapped WITH their ABUSERS. We will not stand for this.
And neither should you.
WHATEVER you can give from $5 to $50,000 will make an impact. AND WE NEED THIS NOW! PLEASE!
Please read our CEO's letter:
“In our world of domestic violence, we are the first responders…and our mission is to continue providing services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.” Mindy Murphy, CEO of The Spring of Tampa Bay (link: https://www.wtsp.com/amp/article/news/health/coronavirus/domestic-abuse-during-coronavirus-pandemic/67-15e38f8d-2bd7-4740-8c36-ffe9c766173a)
In our work, the very thing that helps slow the pandemic – social distancing – can have the opposite effect and actually increase domestic violence. Now more than ever, our 24/7 hotline, our emergency shelter, our legal services, and our support groups are critical to keeping victims and their kids safe from further harm.
While much of daily life in Tampa Bay has been put on pause…The Spring’s team cannot pause….we cannot stop operating…we cannot stop protecting women and children who are not safe in their own homes. We are keeping our doors open to keep them safe – because sometimes, they have no other options.
To do this, we rely on generous donations from people like you.
We all worry about face masks and Clorox wipes and toilet paper for our families. At The Spring, we also worry about these items for 100 kids and adults living with us each day…and hundreds more reaching out to our hotline and attorneys each month.
Sixty percent of our funding comes from public sources that are slowing down because of the pandemic. And forty percent comes from generous community supporters. Please keep it coming!
One private donor has stepped up in a BIG way with a $100,000 gift to Team Spring/COVID-19. He is encouraging YOU to help him double this gift with any amount you can spare to help keep survivors safe during this unprecedented time.
From the frontline, Team Spring says THANK YOU.
