Good Samaritan Shelter (GSS) is the largest homeless shelter provider in the Tri-Counties area, serving over 400 persons per night in our shelter and residential programs. GSS has continued to offer mental health services, drug and alcohol treatment, and shelter services to those in need during this time. We employ over 130 people who are dedicated to providing essential services for this population.
GSS has opened a second shelter to serve vulnerable homeless adults who have ongoing health conditions as well as the seniors. In addition, Good Samaritan Shelter is operating a new shelter at Santa Maria High School to help house the unsheltered during this time. GSS also has repurposed our Santa Barbara Sobering Center program to help stabilize inmates who are being released early due to COVID19. This program is housing these individuals for a full day, providing medical evaluation and helping them transfer to residential treatment programs. GSS's After School Program remains open on our shelter campus to provide a quiet environment for the youth in the shelter to receive help with their online learning. GSS continues to add programming as needed to support the most vulnerable in our county.
The demand for services for our clients is greater than ever before, and Good Sam is dedicated to increasing staffing and needed resources to ensure the most vulnerable of our County are taken care of at this time.
Please donate to Good Samaritan's efforts in responding to the COVID19 crisis in our community.
