With the spread of COVID-19 and its impact on small businesses, it’s become more important than ever for our community to support each other. The food and beverage industry in the Shaw Neighborhood has grown tremendously over the past decade, and it’s a vital part of the economic growth of our community.
Fiddlehead Fern Café (Darcy Heine) and The Social Affair at The Station (Kelly Spencer) are organizing this fundraiser to support food and beverage industry workers affected by this pandemic.
We are part of a strong, solution-focused, passionate group of Shaw Neighborhood business owners who think of our employees like family. The harsh reality is that our businesses cannot sustain this crisis without your help. Our top priority is taking care of our staff and we need your help. Many of our employees are furloughed, and some not eligible for unemployment for one reason or another. This is a chance for you to make a personal impact on many individuals affected in our community.
Any donations we raise will be distributed to Shaw-based food and beverage businesses to support their employees through the Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association, our fiscal agent for this fundraiser; donations are 100% tax deductible. 100% of the donations will go to furloughed staff, not the owners.
Note: Wild Olive Provisions is our newest food-related business in the Shaw Neighborhood. They’ve created a cheese & wine focused shop for retail & dine-in. They have chosen to not accept donations through this effort during this time as they remain open. Instead, they are donating all of their gratuity and tips to assist the rest of the Shaw-based hospitality industry workers and are also matching any donations that they raise. Please visit them as they continue to offer amazing curb side service for your wine and cheese needs!
This is what we love about the Shaw neighborhood— we support each other during times of crisis.
How it Works:
This is not a fund for businesses or business-owners, but rather their staff. Many of the business-owners listed here are forgoing their paychecks to help their employees.
Funds will be distributed by our fiscal agent to business owners to be shared with their employees.
If you enjoy any of these businesses or just want to support hospitality workers that are in need, this is the time to help! Please donate to this effort and share. With your help, we will come through this better and stronger than ever before. Our work families are grateful to you beyond measure.
