Safari + Philanthropy = Dazzle Africa
Dazzle Africa's mission is to create sustainable ecosystems for the land, people and wildlife in Zambia.
Thank you for joining this mission to educate academically deserving students, protect vulnerable African species such as elephants, lions and giraffes, and provide access to clean water for families in rural Zambia. Your contribution will benefit our education, community development, and conservation efforts.
What We Do...
Education
One way that we support education in South Luangwa Valley is to provide sponsorships for students who do not have the economic means to attend college. Our students are pursuing career fields such as medical, law, and public health and many having grown up as orphans, or coming from families who rely on subsistence farming, would not have access to higher education without support.
Community Development
It is estimated that, in Africa alone, over 345 million people are without access to clean water.
Women spend 200 million hours a day collecting water and more than 3.4 million people die each year from water, sanitation, and hygiene-related causes. Nearly all deaths, 99 percent, occur in the developing world.
In the Luangwa Valley, local communities are growing rapidly in size, and the majority of villagers still have no access to safe, clean water.
However, there is an answer to this problem. Safe, clean water is available, but it is stored underground. To reach it, deep boreholes need to be drilled and central pumps need to be provided. This is not such a difficult task, but it does require funding and organization.
To date, Dazzle Africa and generous donors have funded 14 boreholes, supplying approximately 2,500 people a day with clean water.
Conservation
Dazzle Africa fully funds the only full time wildlife veterinarian in the South Luangwa Valley, which is the home to thousands of iconic African wildlife. Dr. Sichande has not only saved over 150 elephants and hundreds of other African wildlife, but he also mentors aspiring wildlife veterinarians in Mfuwe.
We also co-fund the only anti-poaching airplane in the South Luangwa Valley, which is crucial to our conservation efforts. The South Luangwa is approximately the same size as Yellowstone National Park, so monitoring the whole park via foot and car is virtually impossible. With the plane, our conservation partners are more easily able to spot poachers and injured wildlife.
And...Dazzle Africa funds anti-poaching scout trainings that are critical to the protection of wildlife.
