SAVE THE NONPROFIT FEEDING VULNERABLE NEW YORKERS DURING COVID-19!
During the height of the pandemic, BAFA served as a distribution center for the Bronx Mutual Aid Network. Through their grace and kindness, they shared their venue, free of cost, as the mutual aid network’s organizing space and have made themselves open to serving the area at large, especially when neighbors in the Bronx have been going hungry.
Sadly, BAFA is a small, volunteer-run organization with limited resources that relies on external funding in order to survive. They are a community arts space for Bronx neighbors to come together and engage in mental wellness, physical activity through performing arts and serve as a resource center. During this pandemic, they have been struggling to pay their rent and keep their doors open. We need to help BAFA stay alive, keep their programming running and continue playing their crucial role in supporting the diverse New York City community.
Let's do our part to save BAFA!
Please donate generously to keep our community space open.
WE ARE FUNDRAISING $50,000 TO PAY FOR BAFA'S RENT AND OPERATIONAL COSTS FOR ONE YEAR.
BREAKDOWN OF COSTS:
-$3000/monthly for rent
-$600/monthly for utilities (electricity, WIFI and ConEd)
-$500/monthly for operational costs (office supplies, written materials, etc)
WHO IS BAFA?
Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) is a women-led, grassroots community organization that serves as a cultural hub for the Bangladeshi community in the Bronx and all across the United States. It is a dance, music and Bengali language school. It has been a pillar in the Bronx community since its inception in 2011.
What began as a mission to preserve the culture of the Bangladeshi diaspora in the Bronx has evolved to become an all-encompassing organization impacting not only Bengalis and folk culture enthusiasts, but the surrounding community at large.
Since 2011, BAFA has spearheaded the greatest Bengali Language Preservation Initiative all over the US. Our mission is to ensure that the unique creative platform we provide remains at the disposal of artists, educators and students worldwide. But beyond immersing Bangladeshis in our colorful world of music, dance, literature and the arts, we have expanded to become an asset to the multicultural Bronx community.
