On Saturday 9 March 2019, I ran in the United Airlines Rock n' Roll Marathon in Washington DC to raise money for Our Children's Trust, which is supporting 21 young people who have filed a constitutional climate lawsuit against the United States Government. The lawsuit, known as Juliana vs U.S., was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon in 2015. The Youth Plaintiffs assert that, through the government's affirmative actions that cause climate change, it has violated the youngest generation’s constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property, as well as failed to protect essential public trust resources.
This is a landmark lawsuit but it is moving very slowly, and since Donald Trump became President, the United States Government has tried several times to stop or delay it. You can read about the details of the lawsuit here: https://www.ourchildrenstrust.org/us/federal-lawsuit
It is essential that the Youth Plaintiffs have their day in court, and that the United States Government does not prevent their case from being considered. Our Children's Trust relies on donations to be able to support these young people. Please sponsor my marathon run and your money will go to Our Children's Trust to help the 21 young people who are seeking climate justice.
I completed the marathon in 3'42"35, a new personal best, but you can still sponsor me!
