I founded The Warehouse NJ to help previously homeless people transition into their new homes with more than just a few bags of clothes. Our clients (individuals and families who have spent months and years living in shelters) are given a Section 8 Housing Voucher to start over in a new apartment...a new chance at life after suffering from mental or physical illness, domestic abuse, being abandoned by family or other circumstances. We collect gently used furniture, household items and decor and pass it on to our clients to help them turn their new space into their new home. During the process we give them their dignity back...give them a voice and a choice. In the first 6 months of operation, we have helped moved in 21 people!
As the year comes to a close, we have been given a matching grant so we need everyone's help! If I can raise $5,000 by the end of 2019, Naomi Eisenberger of The Good People Fund (goodpeoplefund.org) will match it. All funds raised go directly towards the cost of moving these clients into their new homes, renting trucks to pick up all the furniture and storing all the household items.
Please help me to continue this important work, to have the funds to help make a difference in more people's lives! I set out to help change other people's futures...in return, seeing the joy, amazement and wonder on each of our client's faces the day they see their new furnished home has been life changing for me.
Thank you to those who were able to attend our first fundraiser! For those who couldn't make it, please consider a donation now so we can "move in" our future clients. For more information, visit our website www.thewarehousenj.org.
