This #GivingTuesday support our Summer Illustration Art Academy by donating to our Arts Education Programming Fund! We hope to raise $5,000 that will go towards visiting cultural sites around NYC where the students will participate in arts education programming.
Your help is needed because NYC public schools continue to decrease arts education funding, and eliminate after-school programs that engage youth in positive learning activities to enrich their minds, and enhance their creativity.
Every July, the Society of Illustrators offers the Summer Illustration Art Academy to NYC youth ages 9-13 in collaboration with NYC Parks. This is a completely free 4-week intensive art program for 60 multicultural students from communities most in need of after-school programs.
In 2020, we will host our 11th Summer Illustration Art Academy! Each day, students will travel to different cultural sites and public parks in NYC to learn drawing techniques on location from professional illustrators and comic artists.
For many students in the program, this is their first trip to a museum. In the past we have visited Materials for the Arts, Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, New York Aquarium, Queens County Farm Museum, Intrepid, Sea, Air and Space Museum, and many more!
Community involvement and support are vital to ensuring that this program continues. 100% of the funds raised through this campaign will help cover the cost of Site Visits and Arts Education Programming. This Giving Tuesday, please help make the Summer Illustration Art Academy memorable to these young artists by making a tax deductible donation.
