The Omnivores need your help to create tangible change in Kansas City!
Our first production ever, Gulp by Andrew Hagerty, opens in 10 days. This production employs an entirely local cast and crew of Kansas City artists, is a brand new play by a local playwright, and the entire focus is to make Kansas City a better place to live for all of it's citizens. In fact, that's the entire focus for everything The Omnivores do!
This season we're partnering with MOCSA (Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault). While operating on a shoestring budget, we use our artistic skillsets to create empathy in our audiences and then give those audiences a place to put that empathy to work. Our goal is to generate volunteers for MOCSA and to gather much needed supplies for them to carry out their mission of supporting survivors of sexual violence.
For the production of Gulp we hope to inspire 10 people to volunteer 5 hours of time for 1 year. These volunteers will save MOCSA at minimum $22,360 (based on min wage in KCMO).
Additionally we are holding a "Clean Sheets" drive at every performance so MOCSA has them available to give people whose sheets are seized as evidence. Saving MOCSA significant employee hours as well as providing incomparable comfort to members of our community.
In order to do this we need your help!
We need to raise $2318.55 by May 19th in order to meet our goal. Gulp's production budget totals at $11,945.60 and so far, thanks to very generous gifts and grants we have raised $9,627.05.
THIS LEAVES $2318.55 LEFT FOR US TO RAISE.
This money goes to paying the last of the fees owed to our performance venue and the contractor's fee for a light board operator for the run of our production. As well providing us the opportunity to offer every single performance of Gulp as Pay-What-You-Will so anyone can experience live theatre regardless of wealth or status.
Please consider making a gift of $50 today!
If 47 people give $50, we will have met out goal! Should we go over our goal all proceeds go directly to MOCSA. Likewise, all proceeds for The Omnivores from ticket sales, fundraising campaigns go directly to MOCSA to support the very important work of their mission!
