My name is Jacob Garr and I am currently a Senior at Indiana University. For giving Tuesday, I have chosen the Anti-Defamation League as my non-profit organization. This organization strives “to secure justice and fair treatment to all citizens alike, and to put an end forever to unjust and unfair discrimination against ridicule of any sect or body of citizens”. With the recent tragedy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the Tree of Life synagogue, it is important to me as well as the community to dedicate my giving Tuesday donations to this organization. Originally founded in 1913, the Anti-Defamation League was founded by an independent organization (Jewish Service Organization) with an original mission statement of, “to stop, by appeals to reason and conscience and, if necessary, by appeals to law, the defamation of the Jewish people”. Currently with 29 offices in the United States and 3 in other countries internationally, with its headquarters being located in New York City. This organization was founded as a response to increasing attacks on the Jewish Community. Each year, the organization puts efforts against attacks and to inform people so that attacks such as these never happen again. Donations given will be sent directly to the Anti-Defamation league at the end of Giving Tuesday (November 27, 2019). Thank you for your consideration for donating to this important cause.
