This past summer, a dear friend and I talked about our goals for the future, which included running another half marathon together this fall. Less than a week later, that friend lost her life to suicide.
In a couple weeks, I will be running the Philadelphia Half Marathon in honor of Rachel and am raising money to benefit SPARC, a suicide prevention organization in Charlottesville, Virginia. Please consider donating and joining the Team to help raise awareness. Feel inspired to be in solidarity and participate from afar? Dedicate one of your runs, walks or another activity to the cause.
With your ongoing support, I feel we can better care for those who suffer from mental illness and suicidal ideation as well as provide resources for their loved ones.
Many thanks for your continued generosity.
“The Suicide Prevention, Awareness & Resource Council (SPARC) is a group of concerned citizens, professionals, and partner agencies who convene with a common goal of reducing the number of suicides in our area. We work collaboratively to strengthen and expand education in the area of suicide prevention, behavioral health and wellness. Our goal is to increase help-seeking behaviors and raise awareness about available mental health supports and resources in our area.” (https://www.sparchope.org/)
