In 2017, the Biggest Little Dog Park Coalition, Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, and the City of Reno partnered to build the Biggest Little Dog Park in the heart of downtown Reno. The dog park has been open since July of 2018, giving thousands of downtown residents and their pets a place to socialize. In addition to the dog park, there are hundreds of pets painted on the four vent stacks on the west re-trac as part of the Biggest Little Dog Park Pet Mural. The mural project has been a wonderful way for community members to commemorate their past and present furry friends.
We are now partnering with Canines with a Cause and Team Red, White, and Blue to paint dogs placed with veterans by Canines with A Cause. To honor these pups and their veteran owners, please make a donation so dogs like Chichi, Daphne, Tucker, Reika, and Carrie can be painted!
Canines with a Cause, Reno is dedicated to improving the lives of veterans, incarcerated veterans and shelter dogs. The organization takes dogs from shelters and gives them a second chance at life. The dogs are first trained by incarcerated veterans at the Warm Springs Correctional Center. When the dogs graduate from the prison program, each dog is matched with a veteran in need of a service dog or well-trained companion. The clients continue to train their new best friend with the support of Canines with a Cause trainers and staff.
Team Red, White, and Blue enriches the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. Team Red, White, and Blue is the antidote to the isolation and health challenges millions of veterans face. Team Red, White, and Blue believes all veterans have the opportunity to reclaim what was most precious about their military service: an unwavering sense of belonging born of challenges that show us what each of us is capable of.
From all of us at the Biggest Little Dog Park Coalition, Truckee Meadows Parks Foundation, Canines with a Cause, and Team Red, White, and Blue, thank you so much for your support! Any funds raised over the $3,000 goal will directly support Canines with a Cause, Reno.
