More than 90,000 refugees have poured into Costa Rica escaping the violent repression of the Ortega Regime. Most who cross over the border arrive with little more than the clothes on their backs and their personal story of how they avoided being shot by paramilitaries or police. Since April 2018, 500+ unarmed citizens have been killed in Nicaragua by the corrupt Sandanista forces keeping Daniel Ortega in power.
In response to this migration crisis, Corner of Love has established a new headquarters close to the Costa Rica - Nicaragua border to provide relief to refugees who are arriving tired, hungry, and emotionally raw as they experience the devastating sadness of leaving behind their homeland and loved ones.
I want to share with you a challenging ministry opportunity God has presented to me. From February 16-23, 2020, I will be leading a team of volunteers to serve the Nicaraguan refugees in Costa Rica with Corner of Love Ministries. Our seven day trip will focus on bringing healthcare, medicine, groceries and supplies to this area of the world that is often forgotten. The purpose of our trip is fourfold: First, we will be allowing God to work in our lives through the personal enrichment that comes from this type of a mission trip. Second, this journey will help us focus our individual prayers by traveling to a foreign land and praying "on-site with insight" after witnessing how the refugees are living, starting over and raising their families. Third, we will be bringing the loving care of doctors, nurses, a dental team and mental health practitioners to meet the healthcare needs of those impoverished Nicaraguan refugees. Fourth, we will provide badly needed medicine, like anti-parasitic treatments, antibiotices, and vitamins, as well as groceries, clothing and personal care items to all the patients who come to us for help. I'm excited about the opportunity and experience that lies ahead. I hope you see the value in what we will accomplish. Some of you know I had an opprtunity to serve with my Dad and daughter in Nicaragua in 2009, and it was that trip that was instrumental in lighting that spark that helped me find my relationship with the Lord. I was blessed to serve a couple of other times after that as well. I'm excited to be able to serve again and to shine Christ's light. As you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. I need to raise $1450 by January 15, 2020, but have set a goal to exceed that and raise $2500 to help Corner of Love purchase extra medical supplies so more refugees can be helped. If you can support me in a financial way, I would be very grateful. And, most importantly, I also need your prayer support. Prayer is the fuel that will allow us to be successful as we follow God's leading in ministry in Central America. Without prayer, nothing will happen. I will be purchasing my own plane ticket, and am contributing $100.00 to the money needed as well. If you would like to be part of this mission through your financial support, you may donate on this site, call Corner of Love directly at (425) 432-0433, or send a check with your 100% tax deductible donation (TIN: 36-4612230) to: Corner of Love 22142 SE 237th St. #100 Maple Valley, WA 98038. Please make check payable to Corner of Love and write my name in the memo line so I get credit for fundraising.
