Matthew 25:40 “…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
According to the United Nations Refugee Agency over 4.6 million Venezuelans and Nicaraguans have had to flee their countries. It is the largest refugee crisis in Latin America’s history, and it is happening RIGHT NOW. Most leave on foot and walk for days. People arrive at borders without even knowing where they will go. This mass migration has caused a humanitarian crisis that is beyond belief – the needs are immeasurable.
Corner of Love has responded to this intense time of difficulty by setting up a Relief Center for Refugees in northern Costa Rica at the border and offering mobile services in numerous Latin American cities. Additionally, in places like San Jose, Costa Rica, and Medellin and Cucuta, Colombia our mission is meeting displaced families’ needs through medical and dental clinics in numerous locations.
I share this with you because my heart is in missionary work. God has called me to bring a team and serve from June 23-July 3, 2020. There are several purposes to this trip:
1. We will bring the loving care of medical professionals to meet the healthcare needs of those impoverished refugees.
2. We will provide badly needed medicine like anti-parasitic treatments, antibiotics, and vitamins.
3. We will distribute groceries, clothing and personal care items to all who come to us for help.
4. We will provide warm meals, pray "on site with insight" after witnessing how the refugees are living, starting over and raising their families.
5. We will provide support in helping them process proper government documents.
6. We will allow God to work in our lives through the personal enrichment that comes from this type of a mission trip.
I'm excited about the experience that lies ahead. I hope you see the value in this mission. Some of you know I had an opprtunity to serve with my Dad and Chinyere in Nicaragua in 2009. That trip ignited the spark in seeking my relationship with the Lord. I've been blessed to serve a couple of other times after that as well, and just returned from serving the refugees in Costa Rica. I'm excited to be able to serve again and to be His hands and feet.
As you can imagine, a trip like this requires financial support from a number of people. I need to raise $2450 by May 24, 2020, but have set a goal to exceed that and raise $3000 to help Corner of Love purchase extra medical supplies to serve more people. If you can support me in a financial way, I would be so grateful. Most importantly, I also need your prayer support. Prayer is the fuel that will allow us to be successful as we follow God's leading in ministry in Central and South America. Without prayer, nothing will happen. I will be purchasing my own plane ticket to Costa Rica and the return ticket from Colombia and am contrubuting to the funds needed as well.
If you would like to be part of this mission with financial support, you may donate on my link on this site, call Corner of Love directly at (425) 432-0433, or send a check with your 100% tax deductible donation (TIN: 36-4612230) to: Corner of Love 23745 225th Way SE Suite 209 Maple Valley, WA 98038. Please make check payable to Corner of Love and write my name in the memo line so I get credit for fundraising.
If you would like to contribute items (toiletries, blankets, towels, shoes, jackets etc.), I am collecting supplies and will bring 100 pounds of cargo to distribute on this trip! (Please message me or visit Corneroflove.org for a complete list)
