Community Family Guidance Center (CFGC), a non-profit agency for 44 years has been serving children who have been abused, neglected, and in need of coping skills to manage their trauma.
COVID-19 has impacted our way of conducting therapy sessions. To protect our clients, families, and staff we implemented a Telehealth system on Tuesday, March 31st. We are once again serving 450+ children per week and continue to accept new kids in need. For services, please call 855.329.8080. Services are at no cost to qualifying individuals.
Today, we sincerely ask that you consider making a donation and doubling your gift with the GoFundMe Matching Grant Program. You will help support children's mental health services. Together we can make systemic change and continue transforming a kid's life during COVID-19.
"There are two cases in particular that Telehealth has just made a world of difference. Both are early elementary school-aged children with trauma history and engaging them over the phone was just about impossible. I had switched to working primarily with the parents over the phone through collaterals. Now that I can see them and they can see me, we are much better able to engage and build rapport (one of them was a new client and we were barely getting to know each other). Talking about trauma through the phone can feel impersonal and doesn't allow for us to read nonverbal cues that are often essential in trauma-related work. Something about being able to see me makes them more comfortable and engaged." said Ms. Perez, Therapist at CFGC.
