Ibrahim and Mahmoud are two Syrian refugees living in Turkey while awaiting asylum in Canada. As members of the LGBTQI community they face additional challenges such as discrimination and persecution. They have had to move several times, and even moved to another country, but have since returned to Turkey where they are able to work legally. Please encourage them both to find jobs and become self supporting during the remainder of their time in Turkey!
Due to war, imprisonment, migration, and upheaval; Ibrahim and Mahmoud do not have a long or consistent work history or habits, which impacts their ability to find good housing and be prepared for the Canadian workforce.
Additionally, Ibrahim and Mahmoud both need extensive dental care. They are both experiencing pain and infection.
Thank-you for your previous donations! Some of the money has gone to pay their rent and living expenses the last few months. We sent $1,150.00 US last week directly to the dentist they chose who estimates it will cost $4,150 US. to fix Mahmoud teeth and $500.00 US to fix Ibrahim teeth. They should beginthe highest priorities of their dental care this week. Some of that cost includes implants and cosmetic work which can wait until they are in Canada.
Ibrahim and Mahmoud will be traveling to Ankara for their June 21st interview with the Canadian Embassy. If that goes well their security clearance evaluation will take about 3 to 15 months.
SCM is raising funds to help support Ibrahim and Mahmoud for the 3 months to fifteen it may take for them to get approved to go to Canada and to get the much needed dental work done. We want them to be able to have a safe place to live in Turkey and get the dental work they so desparately need.
Please be sure to share this fundraiser, and help in any amount you can to reach our goal of 10,000.00 US to help with living expenses until they are self supporting and medical/dental expenses for Ibrahim and Mahmoud.
