Please help our dearest friend Heidi.
This Sunday morning July 26th, almost back into Honokohau Harbor after about 1 ½ hours of paddling on an OC2, Heidi had a medical emergency, she was taken by ambulance to Kona Community Hospital, where it was determined she needs a Life Flight to Queens Hospital.
We are praying that the flight restrictions due to Hurricane Douglas will be lifted tomorrow and she can get the specialized help she so desperately needs. We also pray that her husband Glenn will be able to make it to Oahu from Alaska to be with her. As of now, he has started the journey to Oahu, pandemic and hurricane compromised.
Heidi is a powerhouse Kai'Opua paddler, and also the sweetest gentleperson, full of vibrance for life. Whitewater rafter, heli skier; awesome wife and mother. She enjoys life in the mountains of Colorado and Alaska and a lifetime of being a strong athlete. When we are lucky enough to have Heidi in Hawaii, she is an absolute joy to have in our Kai'Opua 'ohana. Since social distancing, she has been paddling her OC1, swimming long distances, riding her bike, refurbishing a house.
Please, let’s be one together in our hope, prayers and contributions to help Heidi. Please give what you can.
