As the world reckons with Covid-19, child abuse rates are skyrocketing. Increased stress and anxiety at home are putting children at risk as they have less access to protective barriers that schools can provide.
Nest is now offering free virtual workshops for districts, educators, counselors, and other school staff to 1) address the heightened vulnerability of children during this pandemic, with an emphasis on online safety 2) provide clear and accessible resources that build resiliency and/or serve as interventions and, 3) ensure that our teachers don't forget self-care.
We are also adapting our sexual violence prevention materials and workshops for online platforms.
We recognize that we must be part of the frontline response to COVID-19 so that teachers and young people are aware of the risks online and know how to access resources if they are being harmed while quarantined at home. Their role in the lives of their students is absolutely critical.
