The Youngstown Playhouse needs your support!
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in unprecedented economic hardship for the entire country, but has had an especially difficult impact on the performing arts sector, which relies on large gatherings and performances as a primary source of revenue to sustain operations. For the first time in our long history, The Youngstown Playhouse has been forced to close our doors to the public for the safety of our performers and patrons. Since closing, The Playhouse has lost an estimated $30,000 in revenue from canceled shows, sponsorships and season pass sales, which are the primary sources of revenue that sustain our operations. As a nonprofit community theatre that operates on a lean budget with thin margins, The Playhouse has been forced to furlough our staff, but we must continue to maintain and sustain our historic theatre facility while we weather this crisis. Our volunteer Board of Directors is continuing to do all in our power during this difficult time to minimize expenses and raise the funds necessary to sustain our facility and limited operations until we can safely reopen.

As one of America’s oldest continuously-operating community theatres, the mission of the Youngstown Playhouse is to present high quality theater arts performances, provide education opportunities for adults and youth, expose all people to the value of the performing arts, and establish and maintain community partnerships while supporting and participating in the revitalization of the city of Youngstown.
