The Sailing Vessel Denis Sullivan, Wisconsin's Flagship and Great Lakes floating classroom, promoting environmental and freshwater stewardship throughout the Great Lakes region. In 1989, the Schooner was simply an idea, but thousands of hands and hearts shaped the S/V Denis Sullivan from the ground up. Wisconsin’s history of ingenuity, resourcefulness, and ambition is highlighted in each sail, educational program and presentation delivered aboard.
The S/V Denis Sullivan was about to enter its 20th sailing season when Covid-19 shut down the world. As a result, she didn't sail during the spring, summer and fall of 2020. It is Discovery World's goal to lift her sails again in the spring of 2021 and celebrate her and all of her glory. We are seeking funding support for her operations, as maintaining of a boat of the size and age costs Discovery World roughly $500,000 annually.
With programming at a halt, she is generating no revenue for us. Even with educational programming as well as family sails, brew sails and more...Discovery World sees an operating deficit of about $150,000 annually. Please consider supporting this beautiful boat; a staple of our great state!
