As quarantines take effect around the world, domestic violence is on the rise. Domestic abuse often goes up whenever families spend more time together, such as around holidays and vacations. Now, with families in lockdown worldwide, reports of domestic abuse (many experts prefer the term “intimate terrorism”) are becoming more frequent and severe. Institutions that are supposed to protect women from domestic violence, many weak and underfunded to begin with, are now straining to respond to the increased demand. Many governments are scrambling to offer services to those at risk, but — as with the response to the virus itself — any delays mean that irreparable harm may already have occurred.
Please help me raise money for Sanctuary for Families to help provide essential services to individuals in need.
