India's lockdown has been extended till May 17, 2020 to halt the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. People are requested to stay indoors, and due to this, many daily-wage earners are faced with the prospect of no income for even longer.
They may be protected from the virus, but how do their families survive on empty stomachs and unpaid basic living expenses?
In tune with Giving Tuesdays’ philosophy, we are relying on people’s generosity to support the needy.
With the help of our donors, this project is helping families across the country meet their basic living expenses - food, water, electricity, rent etc.
We do it by identifying and verifying daily wagers through our committed volunteer network, and transferring the funds raised directly to their bank accounts.
This will help them sustain themselves and their families for the days to come.
To date, we have supported over 2,800 people in different parts of India.
Be the champion and stand by at least one family - as little as $93 helps a family of five in a Tier-1 City and $67 helps a family in other locations
