Cincy Stories began 4 years ago with the mission of building community through story. We've seen hundreds of people share their stories on stage, on film and in our Story Galleries, and even more than that, we've witnessed tangible change in our city, our neighborhoods and in the people who shared their stories. Stories do things that few other things can do.
We know we have such a huge group of supporters who come to our live events, share our documentaries and experience our Story Galleries, so we wanted to invite you all to be part of the work we're doing. This year, three big things we're working are:
1. Documentary and Community Work in the West End - We have recently begun working in the West End, but plan to be there for the entirety of 2019, creating documentaries and later this year opening a Story Gallery for the community. This work takes a lot of time, energy and man power to pull off. We'll be looking to hire residents to throw events, have parties, cook food, and share stories, as well as creating multiple documentaries about neighborhood residents and groups.
2. Young Voices of Cincinnati - We'll be continuing our Summer Program in partnership with Santa Maria and Community Matters with the youth of Lower Price Hill. We'll be working to help teens from the neighborhood find, produce and share stories and end the end publish a podcast called YVC (Young Voices of Cincinnati). This project takes time, equipment and a dedicated team member to oversee it.
3. Live, Storytelling Events - Our live events have always and will always have a low/no cost of entry to ensure that all who want to attend can. These events will continue to be diverse, dynamic and powerful nights of community building with folks from all around our great city.
We value all the support we've been given over the last 4 years, and are excited for each of you to join us as you support us for 2019 and beyond!
