Superheroes for Autism is a non-profit group dedicated to providing activities and support for families with children and young adults on the autism spectrum in a safe and friendly environment, as well as, raise awareness of autism in the community. The group was originally formed as Team Marcos, when Deneida Perez’s son, Marcos, was diagnosed with autism in 2012. The vision for the group was to promote autism awareness. In 2015, Rebecca Heiser’s son, Matthew, was diagnosed with autism and the group decided to expand. The groups name was changed to Superheroes for Autism and while the same focus of promoting awareness, the group focuses on connecting families and building a community of support.
