In the last year and a half, I’ve been at my mother’s bedside as she endured a double mastectomy after 6 months of chemo...the mastectomy was followed by 31 days of radiation. Then, my husband’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer (for the 2nd time) and underwent a lumpectomy. My Mimi (maternal grandmother) was diagnosed with breast cancer in February (for the 2nd time) and also underwent a lumpectomy followed by radiation.
Cancer is personal for so many of us. I feel like it’s around every corner and in so many stories we hear. It is an awful disease and there has got to be more things we can do to PREVENT and TREAT it.
