2019 Running for Ryan-One Last Time.
Falmouth Road Race benefiting the Sturge-Weber Foundation
August 18, 2019 - Falmouth, MA
Four years ago, I ran the Falmouth Road Race and helped raise funds for the Sturge Weber Foundation supporting Ryan McIntyre, son of my friend, Pam McIntyre. The group has accomplished so much over the past 9 years and this is the final push; the 10th year anniversary. This year, I am running along with 5 others from CREA, LLC supporting the Sturge Weber Foundation. I am honored to be part of this team, run with my co-workers and support Ryan and Pam!
$740,000 raised, 7,454 Donations, 107 Different Runners, BEYOND INSPIRING.
Ten years of asking for your support
Ten years of education and raising awareness
Ten years of dedicated runners and incredibly generous donors: showing up for this cause
Ten years of raising the bar, of reaching higher, of expecting more of ourselves and each other
Ten years of sharing our journey
For those of you who may be new to the story, Ryan was born with a port-wine stain birthmark covering his entire left eye and forehead. He was diagnosed at 6 months of age with Sturge Weber Syndrome. SWS is a rare neurological disorder characterized by a facial port-wine birthmark and other medical conditions which include glaucoma, seizures and developmental disability. Ryan had his first of many seizures at 9 months old.
This is the tenth and final year of sending a Sturge-Weber team to the starting line of the Falmouth Road Race. The McIntyre’s were lucky enough to be a part of SWF when the breakthrough discovery was made in 2014 that Sturge-Weber Syndrome is caused by a mutation in the GNAQ gene (your fundraising dollars at work!). Pam McIntyre served on the SWF Board of Directors for over 6 years. Although so much has changed for Ryan in ten years, and we are so grateful for five seizure-free years, much has remained the same. We have to continue the effort every day!
Today we are making our biggest request yet: please support us one last time. Over the past nine years, the teams have raised over $740,000. The team has set a new goal: we want to raise a GRAND total in year 10 of $1,000,000! Will you help us to make history?
