Help Returning Citizens rebuild their lives through a new career.
STRIVE is the nation’s leading solution for people who face the biggest obstacles to employment, including intergenerational poverty, housing and food insecurity, and those in search of a chance after incarceration.
Headquartered in East Harlem, STRIVE has been working in Black and Brown communities to create pathways of economic opportunity through the power of good careers for over 35 years. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our students have been acutely affected and need our program now more than ever.
STRIVE provides free, safe, nonjudgmental supportive services and programs to formerly incarcerated individuals returning to the community. Our services cater to student's needs; providing a high level of individualized services including assessments, life skills and occupational skills trainings, employment preparation, family reunification, job placement assistance, paid work experience, housing referrals, substance abuse referrals, mental health services and trauma informed services.
The STRIVE team consists of individuals who’ve overcome challenges themselves, including incarceration, substance abuse, domestic violence, homelessness and child abuse. The staff uses these unique experiences to inform service delivery and ensure services are delivered with dignity and compassion.
During these difficult times, we humbly ask that you support our efforts in two ways:
1. Make a gift. You can do so on this site for as little as $10.
2. Learn more at www.strive.org.
2. Share STRIVE to your network on social media. Encourage your friends to give.
With these actions you can ensure that men and women returning to the community have a safe place to land. We believe deeply that everyone should be able to pursue their dreams, and we remain focused on helping individuals on their journey to financial stability and freedom. For every graduate that builds a better future to support their families, we take a step toward the equity communities of color have long been denied.
Thank you for supporting STRIVE, and for allowing us to continue to support our students.
