After saying "I've done it enough" the thought of running the Boston Marathon again was not top of mind, although it was always lurking there somewhere. When offered the opportunity to run again and fundraise for a charity, the Natick Strivers was one that qualified in my mind to get off the couch all winter and train again for the best marathon in the world. Strivers represent the best qualities of local charities, one that offers young girls the opportunity to not only learn to lead a healthy lifestyle thorugh running, but also helps set them up for a successful lifestyle as they enter their critical high school years.
My connection to Strivers dates back many years to my daughter Paige who loved to run at a very early age and Strivers was a great opportunity for her to get involved in the program. It afforded her the opportunity to not only run, but get involved with local charities and learn to make good lifestyle choices. She is now a senior in High School, a 3 season captain of cross country, indoor and outdoor track, as well as particpated in multiple New Balance National events. I credit Strivers for assisting in her being able to realize her poteintial.
It's because of this I am happy to run the miles and support this great local charity.

STRIVERS Running Club for Girls is a Natick based program established in 2009. The mission of the STRIVERS is to develop strong, confident, athletic, and community-loyal young women. This is achieved through the process of training and completing a 5k Road Race within a supportive team environment. To date, over 550 girls have successfully completed our program with 80 percent of our members running an average of three years as a STRIVER.
The STRIVERS program is designed for 5th through 8th grade girls. Members become runners, experience the sense of accomplishment when they successfully complete a 5k, and learn the power that runners can bring to a community when they work together. Since the program’s inception, our girls have donated many service hours and lead numerous community outreach projects from food drives, back-pack collections, and town wide clean ups in an effort to demonstrate the positive impact a group of runners can make on their community.
The STRIVERS Inc. Scholarship Fund has recently been established to provide funds for those our program directly impacts. Our goal for the scholarship fund is to assist those individuals who have run with us, volunteered for us, participated in any of our races, or simply have a love of running as much as we do. The STRIVERS Inc. Scholarship will provide a one-time award to one or more high school students pursuing a college education.
