As a Charity Partner in the NYC Marathon, Solace House relies on this race as one of it's main fundraising sources. In lieu of the NYC Marathon's cancellation, this year we are hosting our own "team" marathon, where runners can achieve their end of the year goals while also giving back to the community!
Solace House is a lifeline, a support system for so many people, a place to turn when you have nowhere else to go. We are an organization that offers free one-on-one counseling to those experiencing suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, who self-harm, or who are bereaved by suicide. We also offer family & group support. All of our services are free of charge because we believe that money should never come in the way of saving someone's life.
2020 has been a difficult year for so many. It has taken a drastic toll on our funding, as we rely so much on our events throughout the year to sustain our budget. When we adapted to a virtual event for our Solace Sunrise Walk, we were overwhelmed seeing the community come together with such determination and compassion. We walked in solidarity, fighting the fight against suicide and remembering those who we have lost.
Now as we enter the fall months, we want to continue to amplify hope, unity, and inspiration as we host our very first Solace House Team Marathon! Mental health is one of the greatest challenges being faced around the world today. With your support, Solace House will continue to rise to meet the needs of our community. Positive mental health is our mission and no matter what circumstances we’re up against, we will always advocate and strive to achieve that mission.
We are beyond grateful for the network of support we have built in our community. Your generous donations contribute greatly to our services, your participation creates huge awareness and reinforces a message of hope and solitude for those who need it. Thank you for believing in us and for caring deeply about those around you.
