Help us continue our mission during COVID-19.
This #GivingTuesdayNow campaign is still open until Monday, May 11th
Since 2012, Streethearts has served as a safe haven for the street kids in Cap Haitien, Haiti. We have faced many challenges over the years, but nothing like what we are dealing with during the COVID-19 crisis.
Our staff and kids are safe and healthy as the coronavirus continues to spread throughout Haiti. However, we are facing tremendous financial challenges and need your help. When the borders closed in Haiti, the cost of our essentials such as food, water and medical supplies drastically increased due to the decreased importation of goods. Because of this, we have had to make budget cuts in other places - such as cutting our sports and arts programs for the time being. Even with these budget cuts, we will only be able to function through August given our current financial standing.
Our committed staff continue to show up to support the over 150 boys in our care and even agreed to a 50% pay cut for the time being in order to sustain normal center operations for the boys. This means most of our staff are living off of less than $150 a month. Their selflessness is appreciated during this time but this is not a long-term solution.
Our goal of $50,000 will help offset budget increases due to cost inflation ($5,000), guarantee housing ($20,000), and education ($25,000) for all of our boys for the rest of 2020.
We know many of you and your businesses are hurting as well. For those of you who are able, we kindly ask that you support Streethearts during these tough and challenging times. The need is greater than ever and our dedicated staff and over 150 kids are depending on us. Your support will help keep our Streethearts family safe and healthy so they can continue making an impact on our community.
