Please help us keep our neighborhood services team!
The East Cut Community Benefit District's Street Services Team works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, keeping our neighborhood sanitary and livable for all. They picked up 20,550 pounds of trash in February alone! The team also made 552 welfare checks with unsheltered folks in the district. To keep them and all of the residents of the East Cut Community Benefit District safe, we have had to reduce staffing. Help us reduce financial hardship and retain these valuable furloughed Street Services team members through a charitable contribution. 100% of all donations made go directly to furloughed team members and their families.
These highly trained workers are dedicated to their jobs and their impact on The East Cut extends far beyond garbage pickup and homeless outreach. Services team members have taken the time to get to know our neighborhood and take the safety and requests of local businesses personally. They stop into businesses daily and relay your requests to the Community Benefit District Staff. Because of the extremely low turnover rate, most have worked for The East Cut for years and as a result, they recognize trouble makers who return to the neighborhood providing an invaluable service to us all. They support us 365 days a year and remain committed to The East Cut despite being furloughed. It is time for us all to do our part to support them.
And here is the problem: No property assessment district (CBD/BID) in San Francisco is allowed to use assessment funds to pay staff for hours they are not working. The City and County of San Francisco has told us that this regulation must be upheld. As a result, furloughed Services team members are at home, without pay yet remain dedicated to The East Cut and returning to work as soon as they are able.
So we are appealing to you, the residents and businesses of the area, to make tax-deductible contributions so that these employees can receive compensation as close to their regular pay as possible. (The funds will only be used for this purpose.)
Please help us do the right thing as a community and support the women and men who have been keeping our neighborhood clean, safe, and livable 24 hours a day for years.
