Providing meals, survival resources, vital service connections, hope and guidance to Milwaukee County's homeless population. Hope Dealers.
Every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, our volunteer outreach team is on the streets connecting with individuals who, for an array of reasons, have found themselves homeless and living under bridges, in tents or where ever they can find a safe spot to lay their head.
Each of these nights, a handful of volunteers load a small transportation bus with meals and basic needs such as blankets, clothing and hygiene items. We then travel an approximate five-hour route making 24 stops at various meeting locations and homeless encampments to distribute these basic, yet much needed items. We go to the same locations on the same days and times so those who are in need know where to find us.
While the items and meals we offer fulfill a vital and immediate need, more importantly, these items represent a tool that help us build trust and open the lines of communication. The immediate aim of the outreach mission is to make an impact on the individuals we serve in that moment. However, our long-term goal is to connect them and guide them to agencies with more tangible resources such as case management, AODA programs, employment assistance, shelter and permanent housing.
Please consider making a donation today to help support our mission. "Alone we can do so little, but, together we can do so much."
